HORSE DESCRIPTION
Kinnordy Winona (Dec) is a Hanoverian mare purchased from breeders Holger and Melanie Schmorl of Kinnordy Stud in October 2010. Born in 1997, standing at 16.3 hh, she is from the family of the imported Hanoverian mare Gina (Imp) (Goldstein x Pik König x Abhang II) who produced the Hanoverian Licensed Stallion and Grand Prix show jumper Kinnordy D'Artagnan (Daktylus x Goldstein x Pik König), Pr.M. Dianadorata (Daktylus x Goldstein x Pik König), Pr.M. Kinnordy Waldrun (Winterkönig x Goldstein x Pik König) as well as the NSW State Dressage Champion Dorfschöne (Daktylus x Goldstein x Pik König).
Kinnordy Winona produced eleven foals during her time as a broodmare, two of which were by embryo transfer. She passed on correctness, good movement, temperament and size, and has been a valuable asset to Harris Park Warmbloods' breeding program. I would like to thank Holger and Melanie for their kind hospitality as well as this great opportunity to have bred with such successful and proven bloodlines. Kinnordy Gazala and Kinnordy Geronimo (pictured below), are fine examples of what Kinnordy Winona produced.
Kinnordy Gazala was bred by Holger and Melanie Schmorl of Kinnordy Stud and is now owned by Susan Elekessy of Callum Park and Philippa Mitton. At the Donges Supa IGA 2012 Young Dressage Championships Susan and Kinnordy Gazala won the Preparatory 4 on 76.429% and came third in both the Official Preliminary 1C division A on 68.977% and Official Preliminary 1D division A on 72.523%. Pictured right: Susan Elekessy riding Kinnordy Gazala (Gymnastik Star x Winterkönig x Daktylus) at the Donges Supa IGA 2012 Young Dressage Championships. Photo: 2CPhotography ©.
The Preliminary classes had two tests and two divisions with Kinnordy Gazala and Susan producing the second best test of 120 competitors finishing up with Reserve Champion overall in the Prelim. Kinnordy Gazala is a full sister to Kinnordy Geronimo and is performing consistently well under her rider Susan.
Kinnordy Winona was classified into the Hanoverian Horse Society of Australia (HHSA) Main Studbook in March, 2001, by classifier Manfred Lopp, scoring 9 for swing and elasticity of trot and 8s for breed type and sex type, walk and general impression and development. Pictured left: Charlotte Cox aboard Kinnordy Geronimo on 29 April 2017 at the Cedar Grove & District Riding Club (CGDRC) Internal Dressage Day where the pair won the Prelimary 1.1 dressage class with 68.636%. Kinnordy Winona's last foal, Harris Park Enigma by Estobar NRW (IFS), was born on 24 December 2015. It was with much sadness that Winona was euthanised on 29 December 2015, the day before her eigtheenth birthday, due to post foaling complications. She is greatly missed but her legacy lives on in Harris Park Warmbloods' breeding program through her daughters Harris Park Riordan (ET) by Riverside (Imp) and Harris Park Odette (ET) by Pref Keur OO Seven (Imp).

Sire: Winterkönig (Imp/Dec) (Wörmann x Pik König x Wolfsburg), a true 'Chef de Rasse' or 'Main Sire', he was licensed and performance tested in Germany prior to be imported into Australia by Holger and Melanie Schmorl of Kinnordy Stud. Winterkönig's sire Wörmann is the founder of the most popular Warmblood bloodline in the world. For almost the last two decades this sire line has dominated Hanoverian breeding and has strongly influenced Warmblood breeding all over the World.
Main representatives of this lineage are World Cup II (Wörmann x Sender x Lugano I), Warkant (World Cup I x Grande x Pik König), Wenzel I (Wörmann x Matador x Don Carlos), Walt Disney (World Cup I x Grenadier x Dolentino), Weltmeyer (World Cup I x Absatz x Adorno), Wolkenstein II (Weltmeyer x Wendekreis x Grande), Weyden (? x ? x ?), Wolkentanz I and II (Weltmeyer x Ludendorff x Aristides), Welt Hit I and II (Weltmeyer x Hill Hawk xx x Harald).
Winterkönig's genetic make up contains a very rare threefold combination of the W x F line through Wörmann and his second and third sires on his dam line, Wolfsburg (Florentiner II x Tropenwald x Lanzer) and Ferdinand (Ferrarra x Helgoland I x Indigo), all leading back to Fling (Flingarth x King x Seerauber II), one of the pillars of Hanoverian breeding. Winterkönig's pedigree is further strengthened by his highly rated maternal sire Pik König (Pik As xx x Abhang II x Faruk), the sire of the very important Pik Bube I and II (Pik König x Frustra II x Domspatz). Winterkönig's sire Wörmann is also the grand sire of the legendary Weltmeyer (World Cup I x Absatz x Adorno).
Winterkönig sired a number of highly rated and prominent dressage horses such as Wiking (Winterkönig x Field Officer xx x Ragtime xx), representing Australia at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Rome with rider Nancy French as well as internationally successful eventers such as Waitangi Wind (Winterkönig x ? x ?) under Heelan Tompkins (NZ) and a broad band of valuable broodmares. This lovely stallion died in 2006 but has left a wonderful legacy for Australian Warmblood breeders in Australia.
Deceased 2003.
Dam Sire: Daktylus (Imp/Dec) (Diskus x Absatz x Monitor xx) was a grey Hanoverian stallion born in 1979. He was bred and imported to Australia by Holger and Melanie Schmorl of Kinnordy Stud. Even by today's standards, Daktylus represents what breeders want to achieve; a 'typey' and attractive horse, the result of careful infusion of outside genes, such as the Thoroughbred and Selle Français without compromising the tradition and principles of German Warmblood breeding. With his lightness and near unlimited jumping ability, he was twenty years ahead of his time.
Daktylus' life was cut short in 1993 by a mysterious illness, however he has left a legacy of successful competition horses and three licensed stallions – Destiny (Daktylus x Goldstein x Pik König), Domingo (Daktylus x Goldstein x Pik König) an Australian winner in dressage and eventing, the Grand Prix and World Cup showjumper Kinnordy D'Artagnan (Daktylus x Goldstein x Pik König) and Daley K (Daktylus x Goldstern x Lateran) (successful showjumper and sire of many winning competition horses in all disciplines and valuable broodmares who have winning progeny in all disciplines).
One of Daktylus' Australian born sons was exported to Germany where he successfully completed his stallion performance test in 1988 and in 1992 his son D'Artagnan (Daktylus x Goldstein x Pik König) passed stallion classification and performance testing in the United States conducted by the German Verband. Daktylus is also the sire of Dorfschoene (Daktylus x Goldstein x Pik König), winner of the National Warmblood Mare in 1991.
Daktylus' sire Diskus (Domspatz x Senat x Welfenschatz) sired the showjumping sensation The Natural (Diskus x Gotthard x Perser xx) who was the United States Jumping Horse of the Year in 1986 and World Champion and World Cup Winner in 1987 (with a price tag of 1.2 million dollars).
Deceased 1993.
Goldstein (Gotthard x Steinpilz xx x Winkel) stems from the sire line of Goldfish II (Goldammer II x Flugfeuer II x Ammer). Goldstein, a Hanoverian stallion, was bred by Jürgen Klussmann and born in 1973.
Goldstein has three licensed and approved sons; Ganelun (Goldstein x Lombard x Kurier), Gotland (Goldstein x Pik König x Ferdinand) and Grenoble (Goldstein x Wedekind x Frustra II). Goldstein is the dam sire of the Hanoverian stallion Ravallo (Raphael x Goldstein x Pik König).
Goldstein's sire, Gotthard, more than ten years after his death in 1978 has progeny with winnings of over 2 million DM and is still one of the most successful sires in Hanover. Gotthard's name is synonymous with jumping horses in Hannover such as Genius (Gotthard x Lugano I x Dwinger) and Goya (Gotthard x Domspatz x Antritt). Gotthard not only stood at the State Stud Celle himself, but so have many of his sons and grandsons.
St.Pr.St. Greta (Gotthard x Winkel x Wiking) was a class winner at the Louis Wiegels Show in 1977 and was awarded together with her mother and full sister the family Ib-prämiert. In breeding this family presented a dozen top horses. Her full sister St.Pr.St. Gina delivered to date have included the licensed stallions Glamour R (Graphit x Gotthard x Winkel) and Rex Gotthard (Raphael x Gotthard x Winkel). The grandmother Winzergunst (Wiking x Dolmetsch II x Candidat I) brought St.Pr.St. Winkelreich (Winkel x Wiking x Dolmetsch II) the international level jumper Goldfink 10 (Gotthard x Winkel x Wiking) and two stallions in Belgium including Goldfish de Lauzelle (Gotthard x Winkel x Wiking).
Goldstern (Gotthard x Waidmannsdank xx x Diskant) was one of the most popular living Gotthard sons in Germany. He sired numerous top horses for breeding and sport such as the Champion Stallion Glorieux (Goldstern x Paladin x x Vollkorn xx), the National Show Mare St.Pr.St. Meermaid (Goldstern x Makuba xx x Orion), the auction price highlight Going for Gold (Goldstern x Ballyboy xx x Miracolo xx) and Gordillo (Goldstern x ? x ?), the Grand Prix dressage horse Gotmar (Goldstern x ? x ?) and especially S- jumping horses such as Gala-Ratio (Goldstern x ? x ?), Garant 165 (Goldstern x ? x ?) and Gimpel 19 (Goldstern x ? x ?).
After an excellent performance test in Westercelle, Germany, Glorieux (Goldstern x Paladin x x Vollkorn xx), after only four years of breeding in Oldenburger, left a number of good sport horses for all disciplines. His most famous descendant was for years the international Grand Prix dressage horse Palamos (Glorieux x ? x ?) with lifetime earnings in 1987 of DM 26,110 under T. Meyer zu Erpen. Vollkorn xx (Neckar xx x Ansitz xx x Widerhall xx) in the third generation is a further guarantee of rideability, performance and versatile performance. One need only recall the Military Champion Volturno (Vollkorn xx x Manolete xx x Erbe), the great dressage winner Vallauris (Vollkorn xx x ? x ?) and Vago (Vollkorn xx x ? x ?). Glorieux's full sister Grand Ballet was a successful young dressage horse.
Olympic gold medalist and champion horses such as Walzerkönig by Watzmann, Lancet and Walk on Top by Wenzel I, Landdame FRH by Landadel, Meurer's Sao Paulo by Sao Paulo, Sunrise by Singular Joter, FRH Leonas Dancer by Solo Dancer xx, FRH Butts Abraxxas by Heraldik xx, Shutterfly by Silvio, Mr. T by Wohlan many others share the parent strains with the descendants of the Goldfisch II line. This also applies to stallions like Donnerwetter by Disput, Fiorano by Rousseau, Sarkozy by Sandro Hit, Samarant by Sandro Hit, Argentan by Absatz, Cashman by Contender, San Bernhardino by Sandro Hit, Indoctro by Capitol I, Gibraleon by Gibraltar, Grand Cru by Grand Garcon, Danone I and II as well as Der Designer by De Niro, Roncalli xx and Desperados by De Niro.
