Merry Christmas

I would like to wish my family, friends, clients and colleagues a safe and happy festive season. I wish you, your family and your horses success and prosperity in 2014! From a personal perspective, this year has again been frustrating and challenging, but thankfully rewarding. I look forward to the major changes in direction in 2014 and am planning for a much better year. I am extremely pleased with this season's foals and look forward to watching them grow over the years to come!

Spinal InjuriesPlease note that due to ongoing medical issues, unfortunately I am not able to ride. Therefore, my focus is on breeding and handling the youngstock and, when money permits, I will employ full time, professional handlers and riders to campaign my horses that I have bred and retained. I apologise that riding stock for sale are not available to view under saddle but my current circumstances prevent me from being able to do this. I apologise for any inconvenience.

Che Sara (AUS)I am very pleased to announce that my new mare Che Sara (AUS) (Filante xx x Sillery xx x Sir Tristram xx) scored 74.40% and is now a Class 'A' Foundation Mare with the Australian Warmblood Horse Association Limited (AWHA Ltd). I am extremely pleased with her results and am looking forward to using a lovely Thoroughbred mare in my breeding program. This season I will be breeding Che Sara to the premium licensed and performance tested Holsteiner stallion Contendro I (IFS) (Contender x Reichsgraf x Rasputin).

Kinnordy WinonaThe lead up to this year's assessment tour was less than ideal! Up to and including the day of the assessments we had lots of rain. The property was wet and muddy under foot and it made preparing my horses quite disastrous! All that aside, Tanya Hosford from Trakehners Australia, Matthias Werner from the Trakehner Verband and our very our Silvia Ahamer brought the sunshine with them. It was an enjoyable day and I thank them all for stopping at Harris Park Warmbloods. I am very pleased with the efforts from my horses as well!

HPW Dunham RW (ET)Today Dunham returned to the Equine Hospital for further x-rays and a check up. He was an absolute champion, taking everything in his stride, weighing in at 135Kg. Dr Zedler was very pleased with his progress and soundness, even commenting on his nice movement. X-rays were taken and he has now been given the all clear! I am extremely grateful to my vet Dr Ian Wilbraham as well as Dr Bain and Dr Zedler from the University Equine Hospital. Without their knowledge and commitment I do not believe his outcome would have been as favourable.

Che Sara (AUS)Che Sara (lovingly known as Ruby/Rubes) first came in to my life as the recipient mare for one of my designer foals. She proved to be an extraordinary mare in character, quality and motherhood. Although on lease, I couldn't bear to part with her, therefore she is now a member of the Harris Park family! I look forward to using Che Sara in my Warmblood breeding program, using her with local, imported and imported frozen semen Warmblood stallions. She will be classified during the forthcoming Trakehners Australia and AWHA Ltd Assessment Tour.

Dornkaart (Imp)My seventh breeding season is now complete with a confirmed pregnancy of Harris Park Salienta (Smash Hit x Stirling Luther x Valuta) to the imported AWHA Ltd Approved Hanoverian stallion Dornkaart (Imp) (Don Primero x Pik Bube I x Lanthan). My thanks go to Dr David Pascoe and Sonya Plant of Oakey Veterinary Hospital. Filly foal to be retained by the stud, colt foal will be for sale. Please contact me for further information if interested in a colt foal from this combination of breeding.

ACE Group Assessment Tour Premium AwardOn Wednesday the 6th of February, 2013, Harris Park Warmbloods presented HPW Dunham RW (ET) (Diamond Hit x Donnerschwee x Sandro Hit) for the annual ACE Group Conformation and Movement Assessment. Although he has been far from well, Dunham was awarded Premium with an overall score of 79.75% with stallion prospect. He obtained 9 for his type and canter, receiving 78% for conformation and 81.5% for movement. Comments by Gerd Küst included, "Very elastic uphill colt." I am extremely pleased with his results!

HPW Dunham RW (ET)The last month has been extremely tiring emotionally. Dunham has had highs and lows at the equine hospital and for a while there I was not sure he would pull through. I have learnt a lot about bacterial sepsis and have shared this experience via his Facebook gallery. Dunham has endured a lot, but pleasingly he has remained a happy and friendly character. You cannot ask for much more than that given all he has been through. It is great to finally have him home and I hope his progress continues to move in a positive direction.

2012

HPW Dunham RW (ET)It has been a big five days for my little man Dunham. We had a grass fire come through our property on the day he was born. Not a great entry to the world as his dam was unsettled with the fire and smoke. As they were both safe in the yard off the horse box we spent this time running around moving other mares, foals and horses, putting out spot fires, fence posts and so forth. Lots of running around by Dunham trying to stay close to mum and not much of a chance to get much needed rest and milk. Due to this, by Boxing Day afternoon he had substantial swelling on his off side hind fetlock later followed by a little swelling on the inside of his off fore side tendon. I had his IgG done which was 680; not good, but not a total failure either.

The following day when my vet returned he was rolling over on to his back, not getting up to drink and now had substantial swelling on his near side knee. Dunham was very flat, tired and abnormal. My vet gave him a litre of plasma and then we rushed him off to the University of Queensland, Gatton Campus Equine Hospital. When we got him to the equine hospital he rolled over on his back, again with an unsettled tummy and was very uncomfortable. They carried out preliminary tests including an ultrasound on all of his legs with the most likely cause of his issues being bacterial septicemia. At present I am extremely concerned for his well being and sincerely hope he makes a full recovery as he is very special colt.

HPW Dunham RW (ET)

HPW Dunham RW (ET) (Diamond Hit x Donnerschwee x Sandro Hit), a lovely dark brown colt, was born in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 25th December, 2012. A son of the premium licensed and performance tested Oldenburger stallion Diamond Hit (IFS) (Don Schufro x Ramino x Welt As) out of Revelwood's imported Oldenburger mare V.Pr.St. Revelwood Daylite (Imp) (Donnerschwee x Sandro Hit x Karon). To be retained by the stud and considered as a stallion prospect.

Merry Christmas

I would like to wish my family, friends, clients and colleagues a safe and happy festive season. I wish you, your family and your horses success and prosperity in 2013! From a personal perspective, this year has been frustrating and challenging, but thankfully rewarding. Finally, our house is finished and we are living on our property. It is fantastic to be able to roll out of bed and have the horses right there again. I am extremely pleased with this season's foals and look forward to watching them grow over the years to come!

OO Seven (Imp) and David Shoobridge

To date Harris Park Warmbloods has two 45 day PPT this breeding season. OO Seven (Imp) x Kinnordy Winona (ET) and Floriscount (IFS) x Kinnordy Winona. My thanks go to Dr David Pascoe and Sonya Plant of Oakey Veterinary Hospital. After previous issues with Kinnordy Winona and frozen semen, I am extremely pleased she is in foal to Floriscount with the first insemination with no complications. At one point in time I was told she most likely wouldn't be a frozen semen candidate, so this has been an incredible outcome!

HPW Quaser RW (ET)

HPW Quaser RW (ET) (Quando-Quando x His Highness x Grundstein I), a lovely black colt, was born in the early hours of Sunday morning, 21st October, 2012. Revelwood Highlite (His Highness x Grundstein I x Black Sky xx). He will participate in the 2013 ACE Group Assessment Tour.

Harris Park Répertoire

Harris Park Répertoire arrived home today after five weeks with Clem and Sharlene Smith of Balaam Downs Training Services. He has proved to be quiet with a soft mouth, an ideal future riding prospect for me. He is currently resting until early next year when he will return to Clem for a couple of weeks before coming home again to be brought in to regular work. I was extremely pleased with Clem and Sharlene and look forward to using them regularly in the future for the starting of our young horses.

Harris Park RépertoireSunday 17th June, 2012, saw the Australian Warmblood Horse Association Limited (AWHA Ltd) Queensland Branch conduct mare assessments at Samford and Dayboro. I was able to shadow classify ten mares which was a fantastic learning opportunity. My thanks to the classifiers Silvia Ahamer and Joanne Verikios for their time and knowledge as well as the mare owners for allowing me to assess their mares. If you're interested in having your mare assessed with the AWHA Ltd, please visit the AWHA Ltd website.

Lafayette

On Saturday 16th June, 2012, Lafayette was assessed by classifiers Di Wolyncevic and Bev Edwards at the AWHA Queensland Branch and IHB Gala Day Show at Gatton Showgrounds in Gatton, Queensland. Lafayette scored 66.40% and is now designated Class 'B' of the Warmblood Foundation Mare (WFM) Register. On the day, aged 18 years, 5 months and 20 days, she measured 164 cms (16.0 ½ hh). Echuca

On Wednesday the 7th of March, 2012, the last of my leased recipient mares arrived safely at Harris Park Warmbloods. The Standardbred mare Echuca is carrying my Diamond Hit (IFS) x V.Pr.St. Revelwood Daylite (Imp) (ET) foal. I would like to thank Darling Downs Horse Transport for delivering Echuca safely. Diamond Hit (IFS)

My sixth breeding season is now complete with a confirmed pregnancy of V.Pr.St. Revelwood Daylite (Imp) (Donnerschwee x Sandro Hit x Karon) to the Oldenburger stallion Diamond Hit (IFS) (Don Schufro x Ramino x Welt As). Estobar NRW (IFS)

Harris Park Warmbloods has signed a contract of sale with International Horse Breeders (IHB) for frozen semen from the premium licensed Westfalen stallion Estobar NRW (IFS) (Ehrentusch x Ferragamo x Florestan I). Estobar NRW was the Licensing Champion in 2006 in Münster-Handorf, Germany. He completed his 70 Day Stallion Performance Test (HLP) in Adelheidsdorf, Germany, in 2009, placing sixth overall with 119.95 points (6/31). His dressage index was 154.74 points (1/31) and his jumping index was 70.97 (27/31).

Scolari (IFS)

This breeding season I have made multiple attempts at using Scolari (IFS) (Sandro Hit x De Niro x Weltmeyer) frozen semen with my Hanoverian mare Kinnordy Winona. Although the semen quality is good, Winona has had severe endometrial sloughing which has prevented the embryo from being able to attach itself to the wall of her uterus. Due to her hypersensitivity with frozen semen I are unsure as to whether or not I will be limited with my future breeding options, being restricted to fresh and chilled semen only.

Ruby

This week two of my leased recipient mares have arrived safely at Harris Park Warmbloods. The Standardbred mare Rhonda is carrying my Riverside (Imp) x Kinnordy Winona (ET) foal and the Thoroughbred mare Ruby is carrying my Quando-Quando (Imp) x E.M. Revelwood Highlite (Imp) (ET) foal. I have had issues with my Scolari (IFS) x Kinnordy Winona breeding but I remain hopeful for a 45 day PPT sometime late January.

Her bloodlines include greats such as Donnerhall (Donnerwetter x Markus x Carnot), Florestan I (Fidelio x Rheingold x Garamond), Luciano (Lukas x Eindruck II x Feldmarschall) and Weltmeyer (World Cup I x Absatz x Adorno). Harris Park Florence is to be retained by the stud.

Fidertanz (IFS)Harris Park Warmbloods has signed a contract of sale with International Horse Breeders (IHB) for frozen semen from the licensed Rheinland stallion Fidertanz (IFS) (Fidermark x Ravallo x Fruhlingstraum II). Fidertanz was the star at the 14th NRW main approval in 2004. He left the scene with standing ovations as the undisputed Champion Stallion. Three exceptional gaits, foresight and skill at the fence and an exterior that leaves nothing to be desired left no doubt that he was the justified winner.

Premier's Flood Relief AppealHarris Park Warmbloods is coping moderately with the current Queensland floods. Due to my horses constantly standing in mud, I have had several cases of rain scald, mud fever and swollen legs. I cannot complain though as some of my fellow Queenslanders are doing it extremely tough. The Queensland Government has launched an appeal to help fellow Queenslanders affected by the recent floods as many communities have been devastated. You can help make a difference by donating to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal.

Harris Park RépertoireThe stitches have been removed from Harry's eye, so his eye is open and you can see the pedicle graft on the cornea where the abscess was. This will remain intact (vascular supply) permanently. The veterinarians have finished administering drugs via the subpalpebral lavage tube and are now administering creams directly in the eye. Pending his progress, tomorrow the tube will be removed and he will be monitored. Hopefully he will come home on Friday afternoon. He will not have sight where the pedicle graft is located but given the position it is probably the best location it could be given the circumstances and shouldn't effect his overall vision too much.

Harris Park RépertoireHarris Park Répertoire (aka Harry) had an aggressive corneal stromal abscess. He was operated on yesterday as his cornea had started melting. The abscess has now been cut out and part of his eyelid has been grafted over (pedicle graft) where the abscess was. He has two stitches holding his eyelid closed while the graft is embedding and is receiving drugs via a subpalpebral lavage tube every two hours. His eye will remain closed for ten to fourteen days and then the stitches will be removed (if all goes well). Time will tell how he goes...
