HORSE DESCRIPTION

Harris Park Saratoga

Harris Park Saratoga (Stanley x Grand Ouverte x Silky Baby (USA) 1978), a beautiful bay Australian Warmblood filly born just after midnight on Saturday 8th October 2016. A daughter of the Licensed and Performance Tested Hanoverian stallion Stanley (IFS) (Stakkato x Loredo x Graphit) out of the leased AWHA Ltd Class 'A' Warmblood Foundation Mare Gráinne (Grand Ouverte x Silky Baby (USA) 1978 x Ruling (USA) 1970). Harris Park Saratoga was bred by Harris Park Warmbloods as an eventing prospect with her pedigree containing approximately 43.95% blood.

Harris Park Saratoga's dam dam, Silky Sue (AUS) 1992 (aka Kinnordy Sue Ellen), has a double cross (3 x 3 removes) to Bold Ruler (USA) 1954 (by Nasrullah (IRE) 1940), the sire of the immortal Secretariat (USA) 1970. On 31 July 1972, Secretariat was ridden for the first time by Ronnie Turcotte, gaining his second victory in three starts at Saratoga Racecourse which is where her name is derived.

Harris Park Saratoga has been retained as a broodmare. In between producing foals for Harris Park Warmbloods, I shall use her as my para driving and dressage horse.

Hanoverian G-Line Initiative

According to the Hannoveraner Verband, no other stallion line is that much associated with performance than the one of Goldfisch II (Goldammer II x Flugfeuer II x Ammer). Through his grandson Grande (Graf x Duellant x Foerster) and son Gotthard (Goldfisch II x Amateur I x Altlobitz), Goldfisch II has added properties such as work ethic, power, toughness and expression to this stallion line. Whenever these horses have to perform at the highest level, whenever it is getting tough, this bloodline can be found in the pedigree. G-blood is a necessity.

"The blood stands for properties such as energy, willingness to perform and – above all – for the physical capacity and stability to accomplish extraordinary performances. It would be desirable to start re-establishing these properties even more in our breed by using G-bloodlines. This was the intention of the Hannoveraner Verband when it launched its G-initiative in 2007, targeting on increasing breeders attention on performance properties and thus boosting breeding rates of stallions from this bloodline. The Hanoverian sport horse breed is inseparably linked with the G-bloodline. And this will not change in the future." Hannoveraner Verband.

Harris Park Saratoga, through both the sire and dam line, has Goldfisch II represented six times in her pedigree (in the seventh and eighth generations). Gotthard is represented four times through both the sire and dam line with Grande present through the paternal dam line. Although these stallions are represented futher back in her pedigree, we hope she has gained these highly sought after mental and physical attributes.
