HORSE DESCRIPTION
Harris Park Copyright (Contendro I x Filante (NZ) 1992 x Sillery (USA) 1988) is an Australian Warmblood gelding bred by Shanna Antrim of Harris Park Warmbloods. Sired by the Premium Licensed and Pperformance Tested Holsteiner stallion Contendro I (IFS) (Contender x Reichsgraf x Rasputin) out of the AWHA Ltd Foundation Mare (Class 'A') Che Sara xx (Filante (NZ) 1992 x Sillery (USA) 1988 x Sir Tristram (IRE) 1971). Although jumping bred, Copyright would be at home in the dressage arena as much as jumping or eventing. His pedigree has approximately 72% Thoroughbred breeding, with his dam Che Sara having a double cross to the NZ Racing Hall of Fame stallion Sir Tristram (3 x 3 removes). Sir Tristram's fist foal crop was born in 1977. "Among this crop was Sovereign Red, winner of the Victoria Derby, Australian Derby, Caulfield Guineas and Western Mail Classic at three as well as the BATC Doombeen and the Underwood Stakes at four. All of these races are G1 events. Sovereign Red was to be the first of his forty-five G1 stakes winners. Gurner’s Lane from the second Sir Tristram crop became the first of his Melbourne Cup winners. The gelding would go on to Australian horse of the year honours. He also added the prestigious Caulfield Cup to his racing resume. The other two Melbourne Cup winners sired by Sir Tristram are Brew the winner in 2000, and Empire Rose in 1988." Thoroughbred Ancestry.
Che Sara's sire Filante (NZ), won the 1997 Warwick Stakes with a record of 1:21.060 for the 1400 metres at Warwick Farm; a time that still stands today. He claimed Group One victories in the 1996 Epsom Handicap and 1997 Caufield Stakes, as well as two seconds in the Cox Plate, with a host of placings in other major races.
Copyright's sire, Contendro I, was the Premium Stallion at the Holsteiner Stallion Licensing in Neumünster, Germany, in 1999. The following year he confirmed the high expectations that were placed on him when he won the 100 Day Stallion Performance Test held in Adelheidsdorf, Germany, with top scores in all parts of the index. In the partial index for jumping he became the outright winner on 147.29 points (1/39). In 2001, Contendro I was highly placed at the Holsteiner Riding Horse Championships and was nominated for the Federal Championships held in Warendorf, Germany. Since this time, he has had successes in show jumping tests up to Intermediate level. Due to a heavy breeding load there was not much time for competitions in sport but wherever he did compete, he was extremely successful.
Bred by Manfred Birchler, Contendro I is definitely one of the best Contender sons in breeding. His offspring has amassed almost one million euro with more than 945,000 € in competition winnings. Numerous Contendro I progeny are successful in 1.50 m classes, including internationally. Numerous foals were premium and have sold at well above average prices at the Verden foal auctions. In 2004, eleven of his sons were approved in Verden, Neumünster, Münster-Handorf and Kreuth. As of 31 Oct 13, Contendro I had sixty Approved and Recognised sons and ninety State Premium Mares. Some of his successful offspring include the licensed stallions Codex One, Contendros, Contendros Bube and Count Grannus. The state studs in Celle, Neustadt-Dosse and Schwaiganger as well as some private stallion keepers each secured at least one Contendro I son for themselves. Contendro I has also been included in the Hanoverian showjumper breeding program.
In February 2015, Harris Park Copyright came second in both the Weanling Male (Under 1 Year of age) Studbook and Open led classes Nationally in the AWHA Ltd 2015 National Assessment Tour. With an overall score of 88.75% (2/12) with individual scores of 9.0 for walk, 8.5 for trot and 10.0 for canter with no individual mark below 8.5. Overall impression comments by the assessors included, "Attractive, athletic foal. Could compete in any discipline."
