Third Symphony (AUS) 2012

Third Symphony (AUS) 2012 is by top class sire Choisir (AUS) 1999. Whilst Choisir is still young as a broodmare sire, he has already produced European Group 1 winner My Dream Boat (IRE) 1999, local Group 2 winner My Poppette (AUS) 2012, two Group 3 winners in Europe and Australian Listed winners Mr Utopia (AUS) 2009 and Pressing (AUS) 2011. Although sprint bred, Third Symphony is constructed like a middle distance horse and has a stayers action with lovely basic gaits. She carries many great Thoroughbred sires throughout her pedigree, some of which are proven producers of jumping horses in sport. Her lines include the likes of Biscay, Danehill, Grey Sovereign, Lunchtime, Man O’War, Mr. Prospector, Nasrullah, Nijinsky II, Precipitation and Storm Cat.

Third Symphony's dam, Hear Me Roar (AUS) 2006 (Lion Heart (USA) 2000 x Royal Academy (USA) 1986 x Bletchingly (AUS) 1970), is sex balanced to the Canadian bred, Irish trained, English Triple Crown winner Nijinsky II (6 x 3 removes). Her dam dam sire is Royal Academy who is the grandsire of Black Caviar. Royal Academy is a half-brother to Terlingua (by Secretariat) who is also represented in Third Symphony's dam line. Precipitation was the grandsire of Furioso II (aka Vertuoso).

Third Symphony is from a good Colonial family with her third dam being Group 3 winner Dancer's Choice (AUS) 1986 (by Bletchingly (AUS) 1970), the dam of stakes winners Nadan (AUS) 1999 and Catango (AUS) 1996 and the dam dam of Chading (AUS) 1998. Third Symphony was lightly raced and retired sound in 2016.

On 01 March 2017, Third Symphony was classified by AWHA Ltd classifiers Silvia Ahamer (NSW) and Joanne Verikios (Qld). She received favourable comments by the classifiers scoring 71.59% and is now designated as an AWHA Ltd Foundation Mare (FM) in the Class 'A' Register. I am very excited to have a Thoroughbred broodmare of such quality available for breeding.

During the 2017 breeding season, Third Symphony was bred to the 4* Selle Français eventing stallion Leprince des Bois (IFS) (Yarlands Summersong x Quandy du Mayne x Funny Hobby xx). Leprince des Bois retired sound in 2014 at the age of fifteen after winning the German Junior Eventing Championships under sixteen year old Kristin Rickert. His most notable achievements were under the German eventing rider Kai Rüder tackling 4* courses such as Badminton, Burghley, Luhmühlen and Pau. Leprince des Bois produces intelligent, easy horses and manages to keep size whilst passing over his stamina, scope and outstanding movement. Thoroughbreds are a very important part of my sport horse breeding program and have formed the foundation of my jumping specific broodmare base. Thoroughbred bloodlines remain pivotal to success at the top of international eventing so I have used Thoroughbred lines that are proven producers of performance horses. I envisage that Third Symphony will produce amazing purpose-bred sport horse types with functional conformation and amenable characters. I look forward to seeing her progeny under saddle and excelling in sport in the years to come.

Third Symphony will retire to the Harris Park 'Golden Oldies' paddock when she is older and retired from breeding duties. I am a firm believer of giving my broodmares the retirement they have earnt and deserve.
