HORSE DESCRIPTION

Jaybee VegasIn July 2015 I purchased the Australian Warmblood mare Jaybee Vegas (Vivant van de Heffinck x Athletico x Skyhigh) from the Jaybee Farm Retirement Auction to expand my jumping specific broodmare base. She was classified on 05 July 2010 and is now designated Head Stud Book with the Australian Warmblood Horse Assocation Limited (AWHA Ltd).

Vegas's sire, Vivant van de Heffinck, has counted among the best stallions in international show jumping for years, imposing with his robustness, character, manoeuverability, scope and great technique. Vivant was one of the best horses worldwide in 2010 with the Chris Chugg (AUS). In 2011, he was successful in Nations Cups with Katharina Offel (GER) and in 2015, he was successful at the European Championships in Aachen with Cassio Rivetti (UKR), even though he was 17 years old.

Vivant possesses a very interesting and diverse pedigree. His sire Fuego du Prelet (Jalisco B x Uriel x Starter), bred from the stallion line of Almé Z (Ibrahim x Ultimate xx x Cyrus), was successful in 1.60m international show jumping with Dirk Demeersman (BEL). The valuable Holstein bred dam sire Landino (Landgraf I x Roman x Waterman), was successful for many years with Ludo Philippaerts (BEL). Hedjaz (Ibrahim x Ultimate xx x Laerte) in the third generation was also dam sire of Otterongo van de Kopshoeve (Darco x Hedjaz x Horenzacio) who was the fourth placed Olympian in Sydney in 2000, and Sapphire (Darco x Hedjaz x Cardinal xx) ridden by McLain Ward (USA), one of the most successful show jumpers of recent years.

Jaybee Vegas' dam line is also impressive. She is out of Jaybee Allez by the German stallion Athletico (IFS) (Athlet Z x Calypso II x Lancaster). Athletico is by Athlet Z by Almé Z, World Champion Showjumping Stallion, out of Trenda Skye by World Cup representative and Australian Showjumping Champion Skyhigh (Imp/Dec) (Ferdi x Widerhall x Edgar). Trenda Skye also produced the CCI3* eventer Jaybee Calypso (Carbine x Skyhigh x Conor xx) who has been campaigned in England with the likes of William Fox-Pitt, Christopher Burton and Sam Griffiths.

Vivant van de Heffinck (Imp/Exp)

Vivant van de Heffinck (Imp/Dec)Sire: Vivant van de Heffinck (Imp/Exp) Imported from Belgium as a three year old, exported back to Europe as a 12 year old. 16.2, Bay (does not carry the chestnut gene). Three time National Showjumping champion: 2007, 2008, 2009. Traveling reserve for the Beijing Jumping team, 2008. Winner of the Australian League of the World Cup 2009/10. Represented Australia at the World Cup finals Geneva 2010. Finishing 7th overall, including 4th in the final Grand Prix class, Australia's highest ever final finish. Won and placed at every 4 and 5 star European show he contested, including leading horse San Patriano 5 star show , Italy, 4th Grand Prix Weisbarden. 2nd Grand Prix De Steeg, 4th Grand Prix, Balve. 5th overall on the Riders Tour. Australian Team at the World Equestrian Games, Kentucky, USA, 2010, the team finished 7th and Vivant was the best Australian score in the Nations Cup, Clear round and only a foot in the water in the second round. He competed for the Urkraine at the 2012 London Olympics Vivant was an outstanding 8th individually at the World Equestrian Games in France 2014 and continues at 17 years of age to win and place at the highest levels, 4 star, 5 star and Global Champions Tour - Is Rio on the cards for this extraordinary horse? Pedigree: (For full pedigree click here) Vivant is no accidental athlete. He combines the best of French bloodlines on the sires side and classic Belgium on the dams. He does not appear to carry the chestnut gene. SIRE – FUEGO DU PRELET. – a Grand Prix performer himself and by the legend Jalisco B. [Sire of Quidam de Revel, Quito de Baussy, Rochet M, Olisco, Papillion Rouge etc]. Fuego is the magic cross – Jalisco B/ Uriel, Feugo is also the dam's sire of the Current World Champion 'Zenith'. DAM – Vivant's dam --- jumped 1.40 herself before producing Vivant and two full sisters. She is by Landino, another 1.60 jumper., by Landgraf . Hedjaz is the dam's sire of Otteronga, 4th individual at the Sydney Games and Sapphire – superstar under Maclain Ward. Vivant's pedigree contains many valuable crosses to legendary throughbreds, so it's no surprise that he is producing eventers as well, the standout so far, being Virgil and Shane Rose. Progeny: Vivant produces athletes that want to jump. As simple as that. They love to jump and jump clean. They are clever, big hearted horses that like to work. Like their sire. He is producing well over all breeds, and is producing horses for professionals, young riders, juniors and amateurs. Vivants are very easy to spot, they have his trademark good looks, bay colour and lovely fronts. The majority of Vivants act like they have been on earth before, they enjoy from the moment they are born, human interaction and the adventure of going places and doing things. His first crop are jumping World Cup and Diamond B Vermont is named on the Elite Squad. His daughter from his second crop Diamond B Vixen is a World Cup winner. As a sire of broodmares, Vivant will add another dimension to the breeding of jumpers in Australia. They add type, blood and heart.

Vivant – By far the best athlete that I've had the privilege to work with. His jumping career started as a 4 year old and he went from strength to strength and took me in to the most exciting time of my international career taking me to the World Cup Final in Geneva 2010 placing 7th individually and then on the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky 2010 where we placed 21st individually and 7th as a team. He has far too many results to list, as he continues to be at the pinnacle of the sport competing under the Ukraine flag with Cassio Rivetti.

I am a 5 times Australian Showjumping Champion (3 years consecutive on Vivant – 2007 (April 2008 due to EI), 2008, 2009). An Australian Representative at World Cup Finals in Paris 1987, Gotenburg 1991 – 19th individually on Mr Currency, Geneva 2010 – 7th Individually on Vivant. And an Australian Representative at 2010 World Equestrian Games Kentucky – Finishing 21st individually on Vivant.

Vivant – 2010 WCF Geneva with Chris Chugg, 2010 WEG Kentucky with Chris Chugg, 2012 London Olympics representing Ukraine.

11 Yr old imported Belgium warmblood – 16.2hh, registered BWP, Licensed AWHA. It is very easy to see why Vivant has become one of our all time favourites. He has a huge personality, full of enthusiasm for life and the strength of character to have become a wining grand prix jumping horse. His pedigree is outstanding, combining the best of the French legends and German stars. Jalisco B, Alme, Furioso, Uriel, Landgraf, Hedjaz all jumping super sires. The sort of pedigree and type now incorporated in all the major jumping studs in Germany. He combines a very uphill conformation with beauty and presence. His performances speaks for itself. Before travelling to Germany in 2008 Vivant won the National Championships, the Dapto World Cup qualifier, the Copabella Grand Prix, the JK Williams Grand prix. A sensational European tour followed. 4th Aach Grand Prix, Australian Olympic Team qualifier – making Vivant the highest placed horse in the qualifiers. 4th Spangenburg Grand Prix 3rd Bremen Grand Prix 1st – Gera grand prix qualifier 10th Gera grand prix 10th Weisbecq grand prix 1st grand prix qualifier Hagan 1st Grand Prix Hagen Named travelling reserve combination for the Beijing Olympics. 2 days out of quarantine, Vivant won the National Championships, with no faults over 3 days. Winner Wodonga World Cup qualifier Runner up Equitana World Cup qualifier Winner SEIC World Cup qualifier Vivant is that rare and prized combination – scopey and careful. As a sire, Vivant is living up to the strengths of his pedigree. He is producing beautiful, correct youngsters who love to jump. Vivant does not appear to carry a chestnut gene.

Oct 2010 - Christ Chugg & Vivant go clear at WEG! In the September World Breeding Federation Listings, Vivant was No. 5 in the World for Showjumping Stallions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qur4N3X2mok 6/10/10 Day 2 Round 1 of the Table A competition- First to go clear in the show jumping in the World Equestrian Games, held in Kentucky USA- Chris Chugg & Vivant do their usual celebratory canter pirouette for the crowd. With a great jumping round from all Australian members in the Table A Round 1 with only 4 faults being added to the overall team score, Team Australia has jumped from 14th place after the Speed Competition to 7th in the World Standings.

5/10/10 Speed Event - Australia's first rider was Chris Chugg: he rode into the ring and after a hesitant start seemed to grow in confidence as he made his way through the first and second lines and after pushing Vivant hard at the water, Chris misjudged the green gate vertical and had the rail down. He recovered well to clear the next fence and went about completing his work with no further faults – a solid time of 80.41 seconds but the 4 seconds to add. Team Australia are currently placed 14th on the scoreboards, with a combined total of 17.87 faults.

May 2010 - Vivant was =7th in the World Cup in Geneva, best result ever for an Aussie, and has since been a senior member of two Nations Cup Teams in both Dammen (Bel) and Linz (Aut), both teams have finished 2nd out of 15 nations, and all of the industry is getting very excited about a possible medal at WEG.

In case a stallion wants to point out his position in international sports, there is one show ground, where nothing counts, but the truth: the Soers in Aachen. Exactly there, Katharina Offel and Vivant muscled in with the Great in 2012. With success: Ranked fifth in the Prize of Europe and ranked eleventh in the Grand Prix. In 2011, Vivant was fifth in the world ranking of show jumpers and, together with his Australian rider Chris Chugg, they ranked fourth in the World Cup final. With Katharina Offel he took part in the London Olympic Games. Vivant's pedigree carries international performance genes: inbred onto Almé father Ibrahim, who is the source of the French jumping successes. Grandfather Jalisco is a stallion of world renown: He fathered paramount Quidam de Revel. The thought-out performance breeding of Vivant's pedigree is completed by Holstein stallion Landino, who carries Landgraf and Ramzes x, as well as Hedjaz. He is the dam sire of the exceptional Sapphire of McLain Ward (USA), two times Team Olympic Champion. Speaking of mares: Already the first of Vivant daughters successfully started with rider Chris Chugg in World Cup competitions! Vivant – an international with spirit, heart and soul! Licensed for Oldenburg, O.S.I., Westphalia and all southern German associations.

BWP W00174835, 1.71 m, brown, 1998. Breeder: H. Hamerlinck, EvergemWith Chris Chugg from Australia Vivant was successful in many Grand Prix competitions and the stallion successfully competed in several Nations Cups and the Olympic Games in London 2012 with Katharina Offel. The pedigree of Vivant's sire Fuego you Prelet contains the famous blood of Jalisco B and Almé. The damsire Landino goes back to the Holsteiner stallion Landgraf and Ramzes. There are many successful jumping horses out of Vivant's damline, for example McLain Ward's Sapphire, Otterongo and Urbanus, and numerous licensed stallions. With Cassio Rivetti Vivant will participate at the World Championships in Normandie (France) this year. Licensed for Oldenburg, OS, Westfalen, süddeutsche Verbände, KWPN, Belgium, Sweden. Athlet Z (Dec)

Graf Landau (Imp/Dec)

Allez is by Athletico (IFS) who was the highest scoring showjumping colt of his year at the Hanoverian Stallion Performance Test. He is a cross of the world renowned Alme Z and Calypso II. On her mother's side she is out of a Skyhigh (Imp) Australian Champion and Australian representative at the 1987 World Cup, daughter. Her mother, Trenda Skye, is a half sister to the very successful FEI and Aachen Challenge winner Jaybee Acrobat. Allez produces beautiful and athletic progeny.

JAYBEE ALLEZ: Another very modern showjumping pedigree. Allez is a great type and by the German Athletico, by frozen semen AI conception. She is out of Trenda Skye, by Australian Showjumping Champion and World Cup representative Skyhigh (imp) Allez is a lovely young mare with a solid gold showjumping pedigree.

Dam Grand Sire: Athlet Z (Dec) My first international horse was Skyhigh (IMP) – a bay stallion of old style breeding but he didn't know that! He was fast, competitive, my first project and my friend. He was the horse that started my world cup career, winning my first ever world cup start at Armidale in 1981 and taking me on my first trip to Europe in 1987 for the Paris World Cup Final.

One interesting development in the 40 years since Flaneur arrived, has been the discovery by Australian showjumping riders that while every now and then an ex-racehorse would prove to be a super showjumper, there were hundreds, perhaps thousands of others that didn't make the grade. Australian jumping riders have realised that they need purpose-bred horses of established jumping lines, to be competitive on the international stage. The stallion, Sky High was one of the first to make a mark. Sky High, along with his full-brother, Skies Above was imported from the UK by Chris Howe. He was eventually acquired by one of the early performance horse breeders, Bev Chugg – now Bev Edwards of Jaybee fame – and ridden by her son, Chris.

According to Bev: "About 1977, I started to look at the Warmbloods. I decided I wanted a Hanoverian, and one with a Ferdinand background."

"Then the phone rang one night and it was Vin Cummins from Shepparton who was a good friend of mine. He said do you want a Hanoverian stallion? What is it? By Ferdi by Ferdinand - there we go, the little fairy on Beverly's shoulder again. I'm very lucky, I always seem to fall into exactly the horse I want."

"Chris Howe had imported the horse and he was looking for somebody to take him on. Vin had broken him in - sort of - he could do a bit of this and a bit of that. They were old-fashioned gentlemen, Vin and Chris - you did business on a handshake. I took the horse home and my son Chris said, what is that? I said, I'll ride him, which I did, and frustrated myself for 12 months, because you had to hit it with a whip every stride to get it to trot. Finally I said to Chris, 'what does this horse need?' He said let me have a try, took the horse over and went from there…"

The chunky stallion was a tough competitor, and won the right to represent Australia at the World Cup final in 1987. The following year, Sky High won an Australian Showjumping Championship. As a sire, Sky High has been a more than respectable producer – with World Cup competitors: Heza Skyhawk, Diamond B Ego, OT Flying High and Jaybee Schultz. Add to that a few other handy progeny sold overseas: Sky High 2, and Albrudee High Star, and exported grand-children, Southern Jester and Penrose Park Witchetty Grub. Sky High was the inaugural THM Jumping Stallion of the Year in 2002.

We would like to congratulate Tim Boland and JAYBEE CALYPSO for winning the Pre Novice at the recent Sydney International 3DE Calypso is a 6 YO gelding by Carbine out of Trenda Skye by Skyhigh (imp) and this sets the scene for a very bright future as they progress up the ranks.

Skyhigh (Imp/Dec)

Skyhigh (Imp/Dec)

Skyhigh was imported in 1978. He was broken in in Australia and spent his showjumping career and indeed his whole life with the Chugg family. Skyhigh contested the Pacific League of the Show Jumping World Cup for five years and was always in the top three. He represented Australia in Paris in 1987 and was the Australian Show Jumping Champion in 1988, both under Chris Chugg. Skyhigh stayed sound his entire career. He sired many Grand Prix show jumpers, indeed in 1999, of the 26 horses entered in the World Cup at Brisbane Royal Show, six were by Skyhigh and two were grandsons. These progent included the Australian World Cup representative OT Flying High. Jaybee Farm had Skyhigh daughters and granddaughters in their broodmare herd that were producing progeny with magnificent canters and ability to carry weight behind. A good example of this was Jaybee Acrobat (Aachimedes x Skyhigh x ?) who was competing Pr St Georges/Inter I at 8 years of age. She also won the prestigious Aachen Challenge. Skyhigh gave strength to any pedigree and as wekk as being very trainable dressage horses, Skyhigh grandchildren could really jump.
